PERAN PERPUSTAKAAN DALAM MENGHADAPI BENCANA: SEBUAH TINJAUAN LITERATUR

A lot of Indonesian scientific journal articles in the field of library science, when are sought by using disaster keywords, will bring up articles whose content are always discussing about collection preservation activities, and disaster mitigation so that the collection is not affected/ damaged. Research about the role and contribution of libraries and librarians when disaster strikes is still rare. This is very unfortunate because Indonesia is currently in a state of disaster preparedness (natural disasters). Based on these findings, it can be interpreted that there is a mismatch between the amount of available reference literature and future threats in Indonesia, so it can be ascertained that disaster preparedness has not been carried out by libraries and librarians in Indonesia. In searches in the database of globally indexed scientific journals, there were many articles that discussed how unprepared libraries abroad when facing disasters. There are also a number of articles that discuss the efforts of libraries and librarians so they can be prepared for disasters. For this reason, this study intends to provide a summary for libraries and librarians in Indonesia so that they do not experience the impact of disasters and convey what contributions libraries and librarians can provide in Indonesia before, during and after a disaster. Research method used in this study is literature review. The author collects scientific studies from a database of globally indexed journals and discusses best practices carried out by other countries. In addition to answering research questions from literature review of foreign journals, the author also conveyed new ideas in this paper regarding the new contributions that libraries and Indonesian librarians can make.
